Are You Thinking Through Your Choices or Are You Living Your Life On A Whim and Riding On The Mercy and Grace Of God Instead Of Walking In Obedience?

What is it that you want more?   What is your greatest desire?  Is it to please God or is it to appease your flesh?  A lot of people don’t want to deal with this question.   They don’t want to face the fact that we are in a battle between the flesh and our Spirit.   They don’t want to have to choose between the two but we have to choose.   We have to subdue our flesh and walk in the Spirit.   We have to learn how to lay down fleshly desires in order for God to become our ultimate desire.   We have to love God more.

The Bible says to choose this day who we will serve.   Life is full of choices.   We choose what we say.   We choose what we do.   We choose what we eat and what we wear.   Who and what will you choose to serve today? What appetite will you choose to feed?   What choice will you make when presented with the opportunity to serve God or to serve your flesh today?   It’s all about making right and righteous choices.

One of the things we must begin to do is to think our choices through.   We have to start thinking about the ramifications of our choice before we make it.   Ramification is defined as a consequence for an action.  So we need to start thinking about what consequences come with the choices we make before we make the choice.   It’s like a kid spending his lunch money on candy.   He needs to think about the fact that if he spends his lunch money on candy, the consequence is he won’t have money for lunch.   Instead of making the right and best choices, we tend to live our lives on a whim or should I say on the mercy of God.   Eventually we have to desire to do what is right.   When we desire to do what is right, we stop living our lives just on God’s mercy and grace, we then begin to walk in obedience to His Word, His will, and His way.  What would you want your child to do?  Would you want them to obey what you told them to do or would you want them always acting out and living in disobedience just because they know that you love them and they know you will be compassionate to them?  You should want them to walk in obedience.

SCRIPTURE MEDITATION

2 John 6

King James Version (KJV)

And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
