A scripture for us to meditate on today is I Samuel 30:8. David had been given a promise by God and part of that promise was his family. While David was away, the enemy had come into his camp and spoiled the camp and taken all the women and all who were there captive. Understand that David's family and the other people were all a part of the promise that God had given David. We have to stop looking at our promise in partiality. At the point of understanding what the enemy had done .... David immediately asked God for direction. He asked Him should He pursue. There is a key point here. David asked God should he pursue. There were things he wanted .... his family had been taken captive. But he did not step out in pursuit without first inquiring of God what He should do. How often do we pursue things based on our want and not God's word? God told David to pursue and He also told Him the result of His pursuit .... which was that he would recover all.
We have to stop trying to do things without God's direction. When we step out without being sure of the direction God wants us to go in .... we stand the risk of being disappointed. There are times where we have to be still and let God be God. He has given us wisdom in the natural and power in the spiritual. We have to learn how to use both. How to do what we can do and then step into faith and allow God to do the rest. We have to learn how to only pursue the things that God is telling us to pursue and to allow Him to bring recovery into our lives.
