What is it that is causing you to be fearful? Are you worrying about people, places, or things? Are you worried about things you can’t do or don’t know how to do? What is it that is bringing fear into your life?
Fear is not pleasant. It causes pain and stress. When you fear something or someone, you feel threatened and it causes anxiety. It steals your joy and it can cause you to be depressed. God said in His Word that we are to fear not because He is with us. He said that He would strengthen us, help us, and uphold us with His right hand of righteousness. (Isaiah 41:10)
In Joshua 1:9, God said for us to be strong and of a good courage and to not be afraid or dismayed. He said that He would be with us no matter where we go. We have to trust God. We have to believe that He has not left us nor forsaken us. We have to trust Him and at the same time, we have to cast down all fear.
At times when you are afraid, you have to trust and speak God’s Word. You have to recognize that God is with you. 1 John 4:18 talks about there not being fear in love and how perfect love casteth out fear. Understand, God is love. He is perfect love and He is the One you have to cling to so that He can help you to cast out the spirit of fear. When you know that God loves you, you begin to understand that He will watch over you and keep you. You begin to trust Him to take care of you. You understand that He is with you.
SCRIPTURE MEDITATION
This walk is not easy and there will be times when fear will try to rest upon us but when it comes, remember what it says in Psalm 23:4.
“Yea, though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil:
for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
