1 Corinthians 6:19
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

So why is it that we live our lives as though they belong to us when the reason we were created was to be His temple? A temple is defined as a building devoted to the worship, or regarded as the dwelling place, to reverence God. The question is ... "are you a building devoted"? To be devoted means to be loyal, faithful, steadfast, constant, committed, dedicated, and devout. Are these your characteristics? Are you being loyal to God? Faithful to Him? How about steadfast and constant? Are you committed and dedicated to Him? How about devout?
Live like you care. It's not that people don't know that they are God's temple. In most cases ... they just don't care.
