Why look back? Why go back to what used to be? Hope and expectation relate to your future and not your past. So often in life we want to go back. We want to go back to our zone of comfort. The place that we know. Even though we know that God has delivered us, we still tend to want to look back or go back to something that is a part of our past. We have to learn how to let it go. How to let go of not only the pain of our past but also the things that enticed our flesh in our past.
Letting go is not always easy. It's easy to say it but doing it is not as easy. The reason it is so easy to go back to our past is because it represents what we know. Have you ever heard a person say "at least I know what will happen if I do this". They say that because they are confident in the things they know and have experienced. We have to gain that same confidence in God and the unknown. Walking with God into the unknown requires faith and faith requires you to have trust in God. Remember, those things we cannot see, God sees and those things we do not know, God knows.
It's time to step out of your comfort zone. It's time to let go of what used to be so that God can do a new thing in your life. It's time to trust God and to wait with hope and expectation for what you need Him to do and for what He wants to do in you, through you, and for you.
SCRIPTURE MEDITATION
Philippians 3:13-14
King James Version (KJV)
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
